5 Simple Steps to make Bitter Guard Juice for Diabetes

Diabetes is one of the most prevalent diseases that we Indians suffer from today. Mostly, it is due to genetics, but sometimes it can be caused by our sedentary lifestyle and improper food habits. In either case, diabetes can lead to life-threatening situations. It has to be monitored, controlled and the diabetic person needs to be extra vigilant about his/her sugar intake. Timely medicine intake, getting proper exercise and precautions about the food they eat is part and parcel of a diabetic life. As diabetes can lead to a lot of other health problems, regular health checkups are a must.

11 Fake Foods You Eat All the Time : Foods

If you pick up a block of Parmesan cheese at the grocery store, you assume it's the good stuff, preferably from Italy. But many times it's mixed with cheaper cheeses and sometimes wood pulp. (Now that's something to chew on!) Larry Olmsted calls out these frauds in his book Real Food/Fake Food. Here are the biggest offenders:

1. Coffee

If you brew your own pot at home, buy your beans whole, not ground. Ground coffee often contains additives, such as wheat, barley, and even twigs (crunchy!), because it's cheaper and harder to tell the difference in the bag.

2. Tea

Tea seems like such a wholesome drink, but some varieties are mixed with other leaves and sometimes even sawdust to make it last longer, Olmsted says.

Do Really Water Fasting Helps you to Lose Weight

Hey, and welcome to my extraordinary water fasting weight loss experiment Test.

I'll show you on the bottom what I did to lose 14.6 pounds (6.6 kilograms) in just 5 short days, which comes down to almost 3 pounds (1.5 kilograms) a day.

But you likely already know it's impossible to lose pure body fat this quickly. So in this article, I'll explain why my total water fasting results seemed so amazing on paper, and where the non-fat weight actually came from.

I'll also go over some of the weight loss tips you can use before and during your water fast to boost your final weight loss results. You can use any of that stuff to not only laser-target your body fat, but also to protect your vital body mass during a water fast.

Because, you see, science has proven that a huge part of your final weight loss results will be caused by the  demolition of your vital body mass (luckily, there's a way to avoid that even without breaking the fast, but we'll get to that in a minute).

Now that you know what you're getting yourself into, let's jump right in.

Foods to Help You Lose Weight

Not all calories are created equal.
Different foods go through different metabolic pathways in the body.
They can have vastly different effects on hunger, hormones and how many calories we burn.
Here are the 20 most weight loss friendly foods on earth, that are supported by science.

1. Whole Eggs

Once feared for being high in cholesterol, whole eggs have been making a comeback.
New studies show that they don’t adversely affect blood cholesterol and don’t cause heart attacks (1, 2).
What’s more… they are among the best foods you can eat if you need to lose weight.
They’re high in protein, healthy fats, and can make you feel full with a very low amount of calories.
One study of 30 overweight women showed that eating eggs for breakfast, instead of bagels, increased satiety and made them eat less for the next 36 hours (3).
Another 8 week study found that eggs for breakfast increased weight loss on a calorie restricted diet compared to bagels (4).
Eggs are also incredibly nutrient dense and can help you get all the nutrients you need on a calorie restricted diet. Almost all the nutrients are found in the yolks.

6 Big Myths about Hydration

Stay hydrated

The heat is on, so you've probably got your water bottle out. And that's a good thing. "Every single cell in your body needs fluid to function properly," says Angie Eakin, MD, a family medicine physician at Barnard Medical Center in Washington, D.C. "That's why even mild dehydration can make you irritable, foggy-headed, and headachy." But while it's smart to keep sipping, especially when it's hot and humid, a lot of conventional wisdom about hydrating is just plain false. Read on for the eye-opening scoop.

5 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Running

I started running longer distances about fifteen years ago. Before that I would run a mile or two to keep in shape for soccer and then call it quits. What got me started running distance? My ego.

Buy the Right Running Shoes

I think the first shoes I ran in were some old-model New Balance I bought off the shelf at JCPenney for about thirty bucks. Now, I am not saying you have to drop a lot of money on shoes, but you do need to buy the right shoes for you.

RELATED: Running Shoes: What You Need to Know to Buy the Right One For You

Take the time to get fitted. Your local running store should be able to figure out what kind of shoe you need (yes, supination and pronation are real things). I’m pretty sure the shoes I ran that first road marathon in were trail shoes that were at least a half-size too small, judging by the condition of my feet at the end. Learn from my mistakes, love your feet, and go get fitted.

Olympic Stars Share Their Best Ever Fitness Tips

Olympians are just like us...OK, not even close. But simply because they are stronger and faster and can pull off a hat trick when the pressure is on (we’re talking about you, Carli Lloyd!) doesn’t mean their confidence never wavers. Heck, they even stumble along the way. Yet somehow they still rise up, which is why their advice is so welcome. Here, 19 elite athletes—many of whom have already qualified for the Rio Olympics—share their winning game plans for success in their sports and in everyday life.

1. Learn from losses

“People always think that failures are closed doors, but for me, failures have always been a big inspiration to keep pushing to have another breakthrough.” —Lolo Jones, 33, hurdler and three-time Olympian
“While it pisses me off to lose, it’s also so motivating. It exposes my weaknesses and the areas where I need work. Ultimately, it’s like a ‘Thank you, but that’s not going to happen again’ type of thing.” —Kerri Walsh Jennings, 37, volleyball player and three-time Olympic medalist

Ayurveda Says Eating These at Night Will Make You Healthy

What you eat has a profound effect on your body as well as your mind. But, along with this, the timings of your meal also play an important role in the proper functioning of your body.
Breakfast has often been called the king of all meals, and many diet experts have also termed it as the most important meal of the day. But just because one meal is so important, it doesn’t mean that it is ok to skip the other meals. Many believe that eating at night will make them fat, and thus, they prefer skipping dinner.
According to Ayurveda, the night meal is one thing that you need to be very careful about. Since it is the last meal of the day, it is very important to have it at the correct time. It is equally important to make the right choice of food.

Eat More Healthy Fat to Reduce The Risk of Type 2 Diabetes

Replacing carbohydrate and saturated fats with healthy fats, such as polyunsaturated fats, lowers blood sugar levels and improves insulin control, according to findings from a new meta-analysis.
Around the world, there has been a sharp increase in the rates of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that 29.1 million people have diabetes. That is approximately 9.3 percent of the population.
To treat existing diabetes, the CDC urge people to eat healthily, exercise regularly, and use medications that reduce blood glucose levels. They also emphasize the need to reduce cardiovascular disease risk factors, such as high blood pressure and high lipid levels, and to avoid tobacco use.

Cancer Promoting Protein Levels Reduced by Diet & Exercise

he study, published in the journal Cancer Research, found a reduction in the levels of a blood protein involved in angiogenesis when overweight and obese women experienced weight loss through diet and exercise.
Angiogenesis is the process by which damaged blood vessels are repaired and new blood vessels are formed.
Without oxygen and nutrients, both healthy cells and cancer cells cannot survive. These cells send out signals, called angiogenic factors, and it is these factors that encourage new blood vessels to grow and cancer cells to grow into a tumor.
Tumors are unable to grow beyond a few millimeters in size without a blood supply. However, once cancer cells stimulate the growth of a blood vessel, they can develop quickly.

Top 5 Breakfast Recipes to Gain Weight Easily

To gain weight, you need to eat more calories than your body needs. If you’re a so called “hardgainer” you’ll need at least 5000kcal/day on average before you start to see weight gain. Anything less and you’ll remain skinny.
But how do you eat that much? By spreading your calories into as many meals as you can. That’s why building the habit of eating breakfast is crucial to gain weight. Here are the top 5 breakfast recipes for weight gain.

1. Oatmeal.
400kcal per 100g. I recommend rolled oats. Quick oats are fine too, but I feel it tastes like sand. Mix with one or more of the ingredients below and microwave it. Then top with cinnamon.
  • Natural peanut butter.
  • Milk. Especially whole milk.
  • Nuts. Almonds, cashews, walnuts.
  • Fruits. Bananas, apples, pears, pineapple.
  • Dried Fruits. Raisins, dates, prunes, apricots.
  • Cottage Cheese. Or quark cheese or plain yogurt.
  • Tuna. I have a friend who mixes it with oats & milk. Try it.
Granola and Muesli are great alternatives to oatmeal since they contain similar amount of calories. Make sure you buy them without added sugars. The more they come into their raw form, the better. You’ll avoid fat gains.
